Do you have any spring Walleye fishing tips?

Spring is coming, and I need some strategies I can try for catching them.

Spawning is going to be the first spring catch. You should try the rivers where the spawning walleye head to spawn. The water temperature is going to be about forty degrees. This is the ideal spawning temperature. I would cast upstream and allow the bait to come downstream as the fish are trying to head upstream against the current. When the bait and the walleye meet you have a catch. Another area in the river is by underwater rock structures. The walleye seem to need a rest period when fight the current upstream. If you use a heavy jig, do a drop, and sink right into the rock structure, you should catch a few. The jigs to use would be a marabou or bucktail. The color for spring walleye would be chartreuse or yellow. Use a weight of 1/8 to about ½ ounce. The jig size will depend on the current strength and the depth you are fishing. Now you will want add a small minnow to give the bait more attraction to the walleye. Just a small one though because the walleye are not big eaters during spawning. Us ea crankbait if you are sitting in wait right after the spawn when the walleye are heading back to the deeper water. The area to sit is by the mouths of rivers and by nearby dams. About ten to twenty feet of water is where you will find the hungriest walleyes. They do stay close to the sallower waters for the first part of spring.
