At this time of the year in Cleveland, there are some fantastic chances on the shore at Lake Erie. Plus, you may find that fishing off the piers in the following locations may lead to some good walleye too. Lakeside, Catawba, Lorain, Huron, and Cleveland are some prime examples of pier fishing. Perhaps you can try several of these locations to see which one you have the most luck at. Try a different place each time you go out looking to catch those delicious walleyes. You may need some luck too on catching these fish. Basically, the right place and time that schools of shad are in is where you will find the walleye sitting back and waiting for some food. If you want to go night fishing, make sure that you are prepared correctly. It will be cold so you will need to dress for the occasion, and make sure you are safe when walking the pier; it may be slippery. Footwear must be safe and enable you to walk along the slippery pier. For night fishing you should also have a good lamp, and an underwater light. Prepare in the right way if you want to go out at night to fish for walleye. Try and dress in warm insulated clothes and jackets, with boots that will not have you slipping all over. This is one of the best times to be fishing for walleye in Cleveland; in fact it’s probably the best location this side of the Rockies. As far as what others are using for bait right now, it is spinners or bottom-bouncers. The main thing about pier fishing is trying to hit where the gizzard shad are at. It’s a great place to catch walleye. Get out and try the different locations above, and see if you hit one that is lucky.
