The Columbia River in Washington State is the best place to catch walleye all year. The actual place on the river for catching walleye is by Biggs Junction. This area is a gold mine when it comes to catching walleye. Although walleye fishing all year long is fantastic, the springtime after the spawn, but as the water temperatures warm, they will move into the river by Biggs Junction. The best way to catch them is by vertical jigging. Use some lures with fluorescent green or chartreuse. Some anglers on the river will tell you to use the tube jig for catching the walleye. Use a night crawler for better results. It seems that the walleye in the Columbia River are used to night crawlers rather than minnows or leeches. The anglers in that area will tell you the same thing. The local bait shop has night crawlers for you more than they will have anything else. They know what the fish are feeding on. Head for the sunken islands, which can be found in about twenty feet of water. You can easily drop and jig to catch a walleye in this area. It dies take some patients when fishing for walleye, but if you select the right location, the bait and the technique, you should catch the walleye with no problems. It is all a matter of presentation and location. Head to Biggs Junction and you will find the walleye waiting for you. Just take some time to fish the sunken island and around the drop offs.
