Where are the best areas to catch walleye in New York State?

Finger Lakes in New York State is a good place to start fishing for walleye. This lake is popular for many species, but walleye are found towards the underwater rock structures and by the shores in weed beds. Lake Champlain and Oneida Lake are two other lakes where you can catch walleye. Lake Erie is where many anglers head to when they visit New York State. Then there is the St Lawrence and Niagara Rivers are very popular. The walleye are found in the upper part of the Niagara River. As for most lakes and rivers, the walleye are found in the deeper waters during the day unless it is overcast. During the night hours, you can catch the walleye in shallow waters. You can easily catch the walleye with minnows in any of the waters of New York State. The spawning season for walleye in this area is between March and April. The walleye is important to New York State in most lakes and rivers to control the shad and yellow perch populations. For the most part, fishing for walleye is going to be done from a boat in this area. It is not as easy to fish for walleye from shore unless you are fishing from the shore of one of the narrower rivers. You will find that night fishing might allow walleye fishing from shore, but this again depends on the area. You will have a variety of lakes and rivers to choose for fishing the walleye.
