I don’t make enough money to buy a boat, but I want to get into Walleye fishing. What are some good things to try when fishing from shroe?

If you have no boat for walleye fishing, start your season off in the spring when the walleye are heading upstream in rivers or near shorelines for spawning. When the water temperature hits thirty-eight, the walleye start moving to shore and into rivers. When the water temperature hits forty-four to forty-eight, they are ready to spawn. Now, if you have no boat available, cast from the banks around the mouths of rivers, near the dams and cast towards underwater rock structures. If you are on a lakeshore, cast out to about to about ten feet of water near weeds, timber and rock structures. If you have a favorite fishing hole, you should know where the walleye like to hide. If not, scope out lakes and rivers now to find some standing areas on shore that will allow you to cast into the areas that the walleye will frequent. You should not have to wade in the water, but you might want to if you need a little extra distance from shore. You can look for weeds near shore during the warmer months because the walleye will lurk in the weeds. If it is a windy day, try your luck from the shore as well. The best time to cast from shore is also during the evening hours. Many walleye have been caught along the shorelines at dusk. Just remember to use the right jigs and baits when fishing from the shore and you should have some good catches for the day.
