The Right Line for the Job

Does a high-vis green line really attract more Walleye?

A high-vis green line will not attract more walleye. Neither will any other one color of fishing line. Walleye are more interested in what is on the end of that line to feed on rather than what color line is feeding them. As the name implies, a high-visibility fishing line executes superior visibility over regular fishing lines. A regular monofilament or super braid line has added fluorescent dyes to become a high-visibility line that stands out in the crowd. These lines are available in seven bright colors that are hard to miss. Anglers prefer these lines due to the ease in tying knots and keeping track of several lines at once. The vibrant colors stand out against watercolors. There is the possibility of these lines easily blending into the background colors of the shoreline where green colored lines are used. Still, the brighter colors aid in tracking sudden line movement caused by line changes or fish strikes. The monofilament base of a high-visibility line provides latitude in terms of line placement and reeling in. There is natural room for stretch that allows an angler direct placement over a walleye when jigging. This stretch lets the walleye have a little breathing room if it decides to run. It will not get very far. Even the feistiest walleye pulls to the surface using a monofilament high-visibility line with relative ease. The fish remains hooked on the line giving you a few extra moments to reel it in without getting away. Conduct a trial and error test on the various lines on the market. Be sure to include the high-visibility green line. This could be successful for you. There is nothing saying that it will not be. All it takes is finding the right line and knowing when and where you are going to use it.
