Ice fishing is another popular time for fishing for walleye in Wisconsin. You can find some lakes in Wisconsin that are great for fishing walleye.

The best time to fish for walleye under the ice is at night. You can have a great game going on at night and as soon as the light starts to show, the bite drops to near nothing. The low light is what makes them active and in Wisconsin, the walleye become active at night more so than on a cloudy day. When fishing at night use a jig and a minnow and you will catch your limit of walleye. They are predators of the night or of the dark anyway. If you plan to ice fish, try fishing right before the sun goes down. Find your location before dark and you should have some good fishing.
