Tackle those Walleye %u2028

What is the best choice in walleye fishing tackle?

Well when you first start planning a trip to go walleye fishing, here are some tips on what sort of tackle you should look into. For a rod, you should find it pretty easy to get the list of choices down and pick out one easily. Get a spinning rod. This will help with cranks and those jigs to work the right way. Look into a medium action rod that is graphite, and should be either 6 ’ to 7′. Get a reel that offers a smooth drag or one that has some increased sensitivity in about the upper 1/3 of it. Now onto the lures. You have a bunch of choices. Jigs are probably the most used lure when it comes to catching walleye. Getting your jig right will have you checking for the right style, weight, and hook. Jigs will work their way to the bottom of where you are fishing, be it a river or a lake. The depth of the water you are fishing in will be how to choose the correct weight for your jig. Shallow water or a depth of less than 10′ gets a jig that is 1/8 an ounce. From 10′ to 20′ go with a ounce jig, and for water deeper than that go with either a 3/16 ounce or ounce. Now think of the style of jig you will need to get; either a round or ball headed jig will work well. You should really check into getting several different sizes of these jigs, but always make sure it has a good bait-holding collar. Another good choice would be those stand up jigs, which will make the lure presented to the fish in a vertical way. Finally a color will make all the difference too. Check out such colors as perch, blue, chartreuse, silver, and even red. Good luck on your fishing!
