Where to go walleye fishing in Chicago area? What are your thoughts on weather in relation to walleye fishing? Since mid October only managed to catch

Just started fishing passionately this year. Learning by reading and then going out and testing theories. Worked so far. But fishing in spring, summer and early fall is easy. I’m having trouble with walleye fishing. Where to go in chicago area? What are your thoughts on weather in relation to walleye fishing. Since mid October only managed to catch northerns. I guess it’s too late for trout and salmon…. right? Thanks

There are many places in the Chicago area to go walleye fishing. There are over ten lakes and four rivers where you will have some good fishing days. The four rivers you can fish are the Illinois, Iroquois, Kankakee and Rock Rivers. These are some exceptional areas to fish. The weather in relation to fishing for walleye in these rivers won’t mean all that much because the walleye can move around the waters so much. The ideal time to fish walleye are during the spring, summer and fall months. October should be a great time for fishing walleye if you are in the right area. Fall months are when the walleye are on a feeding frenzy before winter. You should be able to look near the shorelines or wherever the baitfish are schooling to find the walleye. Use some large minnows to lurk the walleye. Make sure that you drop the bait right in front of the walleye, because the colder waters make them slow. They are looking for bait that comes to them. The fish does not want to swim far for their food. As for October being the wrong time to catch salmon and trout. That all depends on the lake or river you are fishing. You can fish during the winter and catch some nice trout and salmon, but mostly you hear about winter walleye, perch and bass. You should see what the fishing report for these rivers say about winter fishing and what species are being caught.
