Fall Walleye Fishing Tips

The best thing to use during the end of summer and through fall is a fish locator or sonar to find the fish. The locator will only work if you have an idea where the fish are and the sonar will tell you where the underwater structures are located. Using both of these tools in conjunction with each other is going to help you find and catch the fish. You will have more luck if you know exactly where to drop the bait. Once you find the school, you will find that catching your limit will be easier than what it is during the summer months.

Many anglers would prefer to fish during the fall because the walleye are hungry and ready to eat anything you throw to them. Later in the fall they will still be feeding, but are so slow that you practically have to put the bait right in front of them for them to take it. This is know problem if you have the right equipment to find them.

The weather is cooler in the fall, which makes it easy to stay out on the lake longer than during the hot sunny days. You just have to dress a little warmer, but the fish will corporate and be hungry. You are going to find that fall walleye fishing is the best time to fish more so than the spawning season in the spring. You can catch some nice sized fish during the fall and leave the fish to spawn during the spring so there will always be walleye in the lakes.
