Running Multiple Boards On One Side Without Tangles

Category: Uncategorized

I’ve been running multiple boards on one side of my boat but am having trouble getting a fish in on the outside without getting hung up or tangled with the inside board - is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?

For a beginning walleye angler using the running boards, this is the most frustrating thing that just keeps happening. It is tricky to run the running board, but it is so nice for fishing the walleye. You know what the easiest way to do this is, bring in the lines from the inside board as quickly as you can before going to the outside line. Works like a charm. You can safely move the board to back of the boat out of the way while you still keep the bait trailing behind in the water.

Now the only thing to remember when reeling in the fighting fish is to keep it away from your trailing bait. If you allow the walleye to move on you, it may swim for the bait in the back. If this happens, you are going to have defeated the purpose of moving the inside lines to the back. Aster you have your fish in, place the inside board back in place, but now it will become the outside board. Always keep tension on the lines, which means you need to keep your boat in gear while reeling in the fish. It is always nice to have two people in the boat as you can see, but you can do this by yourself.

Just remember, you might hear of other ways to prevent the problem, but this is the easiest way for beginners. More experience anglers develop techniques of their own as they become more experienced.
