Are there any good walleye fishing spots in Illinois?

The best place to fish the walleye in Illinois is by Rockton. The Rock River has some of the finest walleye fishing in that area. Up by the Oregon area sees many walleyes being pulled out for a fine catch. However, the dam in Rockton is a great place to hook a walleye. If you are looking for cold chilly, wintry days of fishing, this is where you want to head. You will want to set up by Sand Hole, which is a great area for finding walleye. You will need a boat to get to this area. In this area, you should consider using a floating jig head as well as floating Rapalas.

If you are looking for walleye fishing al year long, the Spillway Island is a great area to visit. Some anglers prefer to fish this area between December and February, but the fishing is great anytime. Fish this area with jigs and minnows. You will want to bring your waders along as well. Keep in mind, you have to work the jig to catch the walleye in the cold waters.

If you are in the area of the Oregon dam, you want to use a boat and try some walleye fishing. This area is known for some good fishing by the bait and tackles shop as well as the west side of the river. You will find yourself catching some nice sized walleyes in these three areas. Always check to see what the limits are before fishing.
