Setting Up a Texas Rig

Category: Uncategorized

Can you tell me how to set up a Texas Rig?

Setting up a Texas Rig is quite easy to do. You take a hook, the size is determined by the bait size, a sinker, this will be preferable be as light as you can, which will depend on the water depth and the wind velocity. You are also going to need a plastic lure. Now the type of plastic lure you use will depend on what you are fishing for and if you really want to hook the fish. For walleye fishing, you want to stay with colors that attract the fish, but also a color for the time of day and water conditions.

Now that you have what you need, take the hook, hook it through the plastic that you choose, and then hook the worm, which should be about a quarter inch. After that, you will bring the hook through the eye and twist it around. Next, take the hook tip back into the skin hook and worm on the other side so you will have rig that is weed less. When doing the set up, make sure the worm is straight.

Keep in mind when using the Texas Rig, not to make your cast too far out. You want to hold the rod in the right position so you can literately feel when you have a bite. Once you have the feel of the rod and no wind, you can start casting a bit farther. Make sure you are comfortable with the feel of the rod and a bite before moving your cast distance farther out.
