South Dakota Walleye Fishing

If you are thinking about South Dakota walleye fishing, you will be more successful on smaller waters and natural lakes, such as Devils Lake. There seems to be a trend at Devils Lake as well when it comes to South Dakota walleye fishing, and some fishermen speculate that it could be true of many lakes in this particular area. In most cases, smaller walleye will go on a “biting spree” long before the larger specimens, so you may be able to judge your projected success based on how soon you start reeling in smaller fish. For example, many anglers find that smaller fish will start to bite in late afternoon and early evening, meaning that as the sun gets lower, those biters will start to advance in size. At the same time, if you haven’t caught anything by sundown, you should probably find another spot because yours isn’t producing results.

While finding a spot that can produce great South Dakota walleye fishing like Devils Lake may be difficult for newcomers, as you learn the patterns and take time out on the lakes you’ll be ever more successful on your excursions.
