Pike Fishing Techniques

What are your most effective pike fishing techniques?

There are probably many different great techniques that can essentially be used when fishing for pike. There are several different lures that can be used as well. There are some things an individual might not know and would like to know. A good technique about pike fishing is the type of lure an individual is going to use. The lure should look as real as possible. In fact, real bait is often the key to catching a lot of good pike. Fish anglers often use nice fat night crawlers, slugs, leeches, and even crickets for live bait. Minnows are also good bait. Another technique is to not let the bait or lure drop to the bed of the lake or river. Be sure to use a split weight or bb weight of some kind, about twelve inches above the lure or bait. By doing this, the bait or lure is sure not to drag the bottom and collect debris and other materials. Pike can also be caught by the trolling technique. This technique is good for those individuals who want to see how many pike he or she can actually get. The most important thing about this trolling technique is that you don’t go too fast. If you are actually going more than three to four miles per hour you are going too fast for the pike. In addition, if an individual is going to use this technique and ultimately use more than one rod and reel, it might be a good idea to use distance between the poles so as the lines don’t get snagged on one another.
