Pike fishing Techniques

What are some pike fishing techniques you can tell me?

First off when going fishing for pike you should look for the right areas that they usually stay in. Those would be thick weeds, wild rice, and lily pads. Plus you will need to use the right kind of bait. Now if you’re looking to catch either a small or medium pike try small minnows, frogs and bugs. If you get closer to the edge of the weeds the pike are going to be larger, and you will need to use different bait to catch these larger pike. Since the big pike will not normally feed on those smaller baits, try, because the larger pike will normally eat hammer-handles, walleyes, suckers, whitefish, and chub. To get into the right area where these pike hang out to get those foods, try areas that are leading into bays, where it’s rocky, or islands or shoals may be. If you’re looking to capture that pike that is trophy size go to the mouth of the stream or even a river, the narrows that are in between islands, and water flow that takes place in between lakes. This is where those pike hide out to catch their food. One of the easiest places to be able to catch pike is the Ontario area. You can use pretty much any kind of bait they aren’t that picky in what they will hit on. Normally pike will hit bait several times, so don’t react too quickly or you’ll lose the pike. When casting your bait such as a daredevil or a spoon, you want to aim up high and let the lure fall into the zone you’re aiming for. When it’s under about two or three feet of water jerk the line. This will make the lure slap, which will attract pike. Look for the right areas and make sure you use the right bait. Good luck fishing for pike.
