Three Pike Fishing Techniques

The jigs are able to do very little on their own therefore it is up to the individual angler. The short hops tend to work the best; however, it is very important not to be afraid to experiment a little with the different options. It is also a very good idea to try and maintain contact with the bottom of the water at all times. However, it is important to not try to bounce them on a slack line as this can cause the line to become snagged.

Most of the jigs are very good for catching and releasing and most of the time the pikes will be hooked on the top lip. It is fast and easy to unhook, which is good for both the fisherman and the fish.

The tip jigs can be either a leech or a minnow, so the one that you use will be decided by individual preference. Some fishermen actually carry both types with them when they go fishing, so that if one does not work it they can then try the other in the hope of catching a fish.

When you put all these tips together you should hopefully be able to have successful pike fishing trips. It is a good idea to fish off the edge of the grassy island or a similar sunken island. The pike will be at different levels in the water at different times of the day, and they are likely to be deeper in the water during the heat of the day.

The pikes tend to not like the bright light and there are a lot of anglers that feel that this is the best time to fish for pike. When you are fishing it is a good idea to let the line drift slightly in the water so that you have more chance of catching the fish.
