Walleye Fishing Equipment – What Gear Is Necessary

Some things to remember when you are considering your gear and tackle for walleye fishing is that during the summer months, you want to have a depth finder. Walleye tend to move to deeper waters and a depth finder can help locate the depth. You need to have different weights for the leadhead. If you are fishing from shore, you need some jigs, sinker rigs and live bait. If you are fishing at night or at dusk, use crank baits. You will want to have some lures that are colored as well. Although, you do not hear to much about the colored baits to much, they are needed for different conditions and fishing areas.

Ice fishing is different from other seasons. You need to have an auger that has enough RPM’s to drill a quick and round hole. The faster you get this done the better. You will need tip ups to alert you to a strike as a winter bait. It is a different set of rules for catching the walleye during the winter months. Your equipment should include a fishing shanty to keep out of the elements, you can then have a small heater going to keep the chill away and stay warm.
