Good Lures for Walleye

You’ll have better results when you choose the right bait and this information will help to make each one of your fishing trips more fun and exciting. You don’t have to spend a lot of money buying fancy equipment to catch walleye but it’s recommended that you do choose good quality lures and other gear as well.

Fishing Tips
Like most species the walleyes will be more aggressive in the spring when they’re getting ready for the spawning season. They’ll move into the shallows and look for structures and inlets where they can make their nests and lay eggs. They will be very hungry after the long winter and searching for a good meal. Providing the right lures that will attract them the most will encourage even more strikes.

It’s important to know that the weather has a huge effect on the way the walleye will respond to the lures that you use. It’s hard to say when they’ll be the most active and which lures they’ll respond to the best in any given situation because they do change. Still, going out in different types of weather will help you learn which options should work the best in normal situations.

This gives you a starting point and if one thing is not working you can always try something else. That is why you should always carry a variety of lures with you each time you go walleye fishing. The more prepared you are the more productive you’ll be.

You should always have something they’ll be interested in even when they’re being picky.

Finding the right depth where the walleye are suspended can be difficult but if you use electronics you can make this task much easier and faster. Once you do find the right depth, it will be the same throughout the body of water for the rest of your fishing trip unless a front moves in. They will change depth when the temperature or the weather changes.

When fishing for the walleye, use the smallest tackle possible. This makes it easier for them to take the bait and for you to feel when they strike your line. Both of which will help to increase the odds of catching more fish. Using sensitive equipment is also recommended because it will make it easier to tell when you have a bite.
