Walleye Fishing In Lake Vermillion – When To Visit

These sections are the best for fishing walleye. The other sections do not have many good fishing spots for walleye. With all the areas in the first two or three sections, anglers will have more than enough places to fish for walleye. They are fishing straight jigs and minnows and catching the fish. There is nothing special about fishing in Lake Vermillion around these islands and bay. The simplest techniques and tackle will work just fine when walleye fishing during any season.

Walleye in Lake Vermillion seem to eat small ducks, leeches, frogs, perch and whatever else you offer them. The catch limit for walleye is four a day with only one over the twenty-six inch limit. Because of the catch and release rules they have in place, the walleye are growing to enormous size. It is not hard to catch a twenty-six inch walleye. There are other fish in the lake, but if you stay close to the islands that have walleye lurking around, you should have no problem just catching a walleye. The pike and other fish species usually stay in the other areas of the lake.

Any walleye catch between the length of seventeen and twenty-six inches must be released. This has helped with the population of the walleye. As of 2008, the catch and release of walleye this size has not been lifted. The walleye catch is still huge compared to any other lakes, rivers and reservoirs in Minnesota.

Whether you use a guide service or fish for yourself, you will find that Lake Vermillion is the best place to fish. There are some great campgrounds around the area as well as restaurants and bars. It is a nice area to fish and dine.
