Rainy Lake in Minnesota offers a great day of fishing for walleye. One thing to keep in mind that you are going to catch a lot of fish. They are strict with their size limits, so it will be easy to catch over fifteen fish and walk away with your daily catch. The reason you catch so many is that they have to be a certain size to keep or you must throw them back. The season starts to pick up in May and continues until October. Rainy Lake has many sunken islands and some reefs where the walleye are prominent during June. If you want some great fishing, you should check into the guided fishing trips. They pick you up on a houseboat and take you to the popular fishing areas on Rainy Lake. Houseboat fishing is just one idea that comes to mind. They have all the equipment you need and you spend about eight hours out on the lake. If you are new to Rainy Lake in Minnesota, this might be the ideal way to find the best sots and catch your limit for the day. Rainy Lake has over fifteen hundred miles of shoreline, so naming just on place is hard. The walleye are everywhere, but again that depends on the time of the year and weather conditions. When you plan your trip to Rainy Lake, take along jigs, leadhead jigs and get some minnows from the bait shop. Crankbait and minnows work well on the lake.
