Eagle Lake by Eagle River has over four hundred islands and fishing is it best during the spring and fall months. The average depth of the water is twenty-two feet with a maximum depth of one hundred and ten feet. Underwater structures make good hiding places for the walleye. Lake Nipigon by Thunder Bay drains into Lake Superior and has the best walleye fishing. There are over five hundred islands to fish by for walleye. The deepest water is one hundred and sixty-five feet. There is a lot of baitfish that keep the walleye healthy and big. Lake of the Woods by Kenora is the most scenic place in Ontario to be. The fishing is great and the view around the water is spectacular. The walleye are found in different areas of the Lake of the Woods. Big Trout Lake by Thunder Bay will have you hopping for a net to bring the trophy size walleye into the boat. Not only is it not an all trout lake, it is a great place to fish for northern pike as well. You will find many areas to cast your bait. These areas are known to produce some nice walleyes. The daily limits are easy to meet if you go in the morning or just at dusk. The walleye will go deep when the sun comes up and it can be a little harder to get a strike. If you use the right bait, you can catch enough for the table and then some.
