5.       Presentation is more important than many anglers realize. All species have a natural instinct that tells them to move away from anything that is un-natural. Therefore, if you make your bait move around in all types of weird, crazy ways, the fish will not touch it. They know that something is not right and no matter how tasty the meal looks, it will not yield results.

This is why one of the first things that you should do is learn about the baits that you want to use. You need to know what they were designed for and how they were meant to be used. Then you need to practice and practice until you learn how to make them move through the water correctly.

Lake Vermilion has over twelve hundred miles of shoreline that is mostly rocky. There are about three hundred and fifty islands scattered around throughout this lake that provides the prefect place to fish for walleye and other species. They will be around the island and in places where there is lots of vegetation.

It’s important to know that fishing season on this lake opens in May and ends in February so make sure you find out the exact dates before you head out to do some fishing. The worse time to go walleye fishing is in July but you can still entice them to strike if you present them with a good offering they can’t refuse. By the time fall rolls around, the water will begin to cool down and the walleye will become more active again.

Be sure and go over all of the rules and regulations that govern this lake to ensure that you know what they are. Lake Vermilion is an excellent place to catch walleye and you don’t want your fishing trip ruined because you broke some of the rules that you didn’t even know existed. Always practice safety habits as well to ensure you get to return later for another fun-filled day of walleye fishing on Lake Vermilion.
