Basic Fishing Tips

Once you find the best Canadian walleye fishing camp, you can use a few tips to help you catch more fish while you’re there. There are two main reasons why walleyes are considered a challenge to catch. First of all, it’s difficult to feel when they take the bait. There are a few things you can do to help you know when you have a bite.

For example, use a sensitive rod to help you feel the slight tug when the walleye strikes and use the smallest tackle you can. You can also fish with a bobber and when it goes under you know you have a bite. Keep a watchful eye on your line and keep it tight, this will also help you notice when you have a bite.

The other reason they’re so hard to catch is because they’ll put up one heck of a struggle once hooked. You’ll need to be ready for this so you’re not startled and lose the fish before you have time to completely set the hook. You can also reel the walleye in with a side to side motion to help reduce the strain a little and make it harder for it to work its way loose.

Walleyes are sought out for both sport and food because they are considered to be one of the tastiest fish around enhancing any meal. In fact, the walleyes caught in Canada are said to have an even better taste than the ones caught in other parts of the world. However, when you do reel one in, be careful removing the hook. This species has a mouth full of sharp teeth so if you get bit, it’s going to be painful.
