The size of the blades on the spinners does make a difference with a broad blade rotating a different angle than a large blade that has more resistance to it.  If you use the right tackle, you’ll be able to feel the spinner on the line, and if you’re finding that you can’t feel it, trying retrieving a little faster.

Also, make sure you us a stiffer rod when using spinners.  This will help set the hook better and you won’t lose your catch.  It is recommended that you use a six to ten pound test for walleyes.  Keep your spinners separated in your tackle box as best you can so that you can easily switch them if one doesn’t work.  Finally, try to avoid the weed beds.  The walleye might like to hide in there, but it’s murder on untangling the hook from the vegetation.
