Where can I catch walleye in Pennsylvania close to Reading or Allentown? How about Susquehanna River? Is there a guide service anywhere?

WWHERE CAN I CATCH WALLEYE IN PA. CLOSE TO READING OR ALLENTOWN-I DON’T WANT TO DRIVE TO THE GREAT LAKES. HOW ABOUT THE SUSQUAHANA RIVER? IS THERE A GUIDE SERVICE ANYWHWRE? CLOSE TO HOME- THANKS DARRYL ADAMS

Well first off, you will not find walleye in the Susquehanna River. That is a bass catching river. There are guide services for the river, but not for walleye. If you want to catch walleye near and around Reading, Pennsylvania, you could fish Blue March and Schuylkill River. The Backwoods Angler is a guide service by Allentown that specializes in smallmouth bass, but also does do walleye fishing trips. I recall hearing about an angler that went out with this guide service and hooked a twenty-five inch walleye. Therefore, there are walleye being caught in the Schuylkill River. To bad you do not live closer to Lake Erie where the real walleye fishing is hot. However, the Blue March and the Schuylkill River will be your options if you need to stay close to Reading and Allentown. I have not been up to that area in a while. I used to do some walleye fishing near Pottstown and then watch the races at Grandview years ago. I always tried to head towards Lake Erie where I found the walleye fishing to be the best. Try giving The Backwoods Angler a call and see if you can get on a day trip. He is a great angler who has given some good advice to many people. He specializes in smallmouth bass, but does run with the walleye crowd as well. He will tell you went the walleye are ready and what time of year is the best. This should help you decide when to go.

first of all walleye are loaded in susquhana river
and its Blue Marsh. As far as fly rod use a five if you want but seriously its going to probably be blowing wind throwing heavy flies maybe split shot go with a seven weight loomis. As long as its a fly rod cause people its the only way to fish

Coincidentally, I just met a guide yesterday who fishes the Susquehanna for Walleye. You can reach him at 717 848 2639. His name is David.

There are walleye in the schuykill river but most come from blue marsh. When there is high water in the spring they leave the res and go down stream. Along with the cats. they are caught once in a while near the old dams on the river down to Philly. We’ve gotten walleyes up to 26 inches but they are rare. You would have more luck fishing for cats or stripers in the Schuykill. I have plenty of info on walleyes in different areas. The susquie is problably the best place to fish for them. Early spring and the last heavy rain around November in th bloomsburg area. So real good fish get taken but no one wants to talk about them. Check my website out. I change pics every few days on different hot spots.
