What type of bait/lures should I use on Central Lake Erie for walleye fishing?

never fished for walleye before kind of wondering if you might have some insight on what kind of bait/lures to use on central erie

The best lures being used on Lake Erie are the Thundersticks and the Long A Bombers. Use a jig and a night crawler to catch walleye. Many anglers are find that different techniques work better than others are as well. For walleye fishing the worm harness is working rather well. The harness itself is going to take most of the stock when a walleye bites. This has been working just fine for many anglers. Of course, there is the old stand by that works well. A jig and a minnow is sure to test the walleyes appetite. The size of the minnow will depend on the time of year you are fishing. Still some anglers are holding true to the old trick of balling a night crawler up on a hook and dropping it in the water. I have heard this works great over there in Lake Erie. You tend to lose the night crawler when fishing in that lake if it is trailing, so the anglers ball it up and that is it. It is probably the simplest way to fish for any fish. I have heard that this is still a way for some of the older anglers to fish. They swear by this old trick of fishing walleye. When you think about it, many centuries ago, this was the only way to fish and no one went hungry when fishing on Lake Erie. I do think you will catch anything this way though. So, you will have a variety of fish.
