Many people think that the best time to fish for any fish is during bright sunny days. But did you know that this thought process is actually incorrect? That’s right. Most fish are actually sensitive to sunlight and additionally will only feed at night or low light conditions such as cloud cover. If you are fishing at night, be sure to use a lure that will shimmer or glow fluorescent as this will attract the walleye. If you were out on the water during the day, then there are a couple of things that you should look for that will make you score with your nighttime walleye fishing trip. First look for groupings of minnows. They will usually hang out at the mouths of the waterways. If you see this, then chances are that the walleyes will feed here at night. You will additionally need to look for sandy gravely areas and rocky formations. The walleye will hide here as well as in tall grassy areas. If you can notice a habit in the specific areas, place your live bait with your shimmery lure and just watch the fish jump into your boat. These fish are creatures of habit and thrive on consistency. They like the weather to stay relatively the same, and will generally feed and relax in the same areas all of the time.
