Hey Dan, Great site lots of info for a successful fishing trip. We live in Colorado and want to do some spring walleye fishing in Montana. What would you suggest as the best lake to go too? Thanks, Troy

The best place in Montana that is just swarming with walleye is Fort Peck Reservoir. You can get away with using a bottom bouncer without all the blades and beads. Just use a night crawler or even a leech and you will have your fill for the day. Now Fort Peck Reservoir is very large, so you will want to go to some certain areas. The Fairview area seems to be a popular area for catching walleye. There is an outfitter group up there called the Sioux Pass Outfitters & Charters that is a good charter service. They have different size boats for different charter needs. Sometimes the waves can be huge. You would think you were on an ocean. It is always a good idea to have a big boat so you can fish even when the wind is a bit strong. That seems to be a great time to fish for walleye. You have the location, the only other thing to do, is checked the daily fishing reports to see where the walleye are striking. They have a big area to live in and can move around quite a bit. There is a tackle and bait shop in Fairview as well that always has information on where the walleye are biting and what they are biting as well. There are some nice places to stay in that area as well as some great restaurants. You will have a good a catch if you fish for walleye at Fort Peck Reservoir.
