The Best Walleye Fishing Season

By using small minnows, leeches or even night crawlers, you will find the walleye are striking. They do like something smaller until they start feeling the need for more food. Keep another thing in mind for fishing walleye, the Mayfly hatching time. During this time, the walleye are all over the area snatching up the larva and this is a great time to drop your bait as long as you can stand the Mayflies. The time of year for this is going to vary somewhat, but for the most part it does happen at the same times of the year.

Not only do weather, water temperatures and the seasons play a part in planning your walleye fishing adventure, you can plan to fish according to acts of nature. Spawning season, Mayfly season, weather conditions and water conditions are all acts of nature that can guide you when looking for the right time to fish the walleye. What you use is going to depend on when you are fishing. Jig spoons, live bait, plastic baits and all the other baits you know about all work different at different times and in different locations. You just have to check with the locals who are always anxious to tell you what is working.
