Fishing Tips Walleye

The walleye will be attracted to bait that resemble the baitfish found in the lake or river where you’re fishing. Therefore, when you find out what it is and use something similar to that, you’ll get results. This one small action can help to improve your chances of catching more walleyes each time you go fishing.

In addition to these tips, you should be sure you plan ahead for your trips. If you plan to fish in the same area repeatedly, map sure you map out the area and learn as much as you can about it. While the walleye will move around some, if you find a spot where they are plentiful, it’s likely they are going to stay nearby. When you map out the area, it helps you to get back to where the fish are at easier.

Don’t forget that you are also going to want to choose the right bait. It’s important to try for what the walleye would find naturally in that habitat. Walleyes are typically attracted to minnows, night crawlers and insect larvae. Whatever bait you choose, you might also want to get a backup bait or two so that once you are out there, if one isn’t working for you, then you can just switch to another to see if you get better results.

Even these four tips for catching walleye will not guarantee you the perfect catch every time. You still need to be flexible and be prepared to try new things if one is not working. Walleye, like all fish species, can sometimes be finicky. However, with these general tips, you can be well on your way to being better prepared for the fishing  you have planned.
