3 Tips On Catching Northern Pike

In Ontario there are around three water types. You get the clear one that allows you to see down 80 feet and then you get those lakes where the water is muddy or murky and this is thanks to a huge storm. Many of these lakes have red color water. This is caused by the dissolved iron content. If you are fishing in clear water, the red-and-silver color DareDevils work best. The yellow-five-of-diamonds DareDevil works best in muddy and red waters. Adding rattle bait to the line allows Pike to locate the lure easily.

Don’t toss the old Rapalas and know how to hold a Pike
Somewhere you must have that old Rapala that is all worn out. You decided to use it as a key-chain because it is all chewed up and it has a broken fin. This is a Rapala that is very useful. Its days of being a key-chain are over. Nothing makes a large Pike more upset than watching a fish eating. Pike are competitive fish and they will show it. Whenever a Pike sees another fish chasing food, it is lunch time.

Remove hooks from the old Rapala and attach it to a steel leader. Attach another black leader to the tail of the Rapala using a spring-slip-ring. Now attach your DareDevil and you are all ready to go.

If you take a Pike or a Walleye and hold it by the eye sockets, some would remember this technique from the old day. You will squeeze the optic nerves into its brain and the fish will die slowly.

There you have it. Take these tips with you the next time you go Pike fishing and show them that you are cleverer than them. You now know where they are located and you now know how they can be caught. Go fishing!
