hi i just wanted to know if you could tell me where a few of the hot spots for walleye are located in the detroit river? thx
The hotspot right now is the lower part of the Trenton Channel over by Wyandotte. They are also catching the walleye around Mud Island. In these areas anglers are using trolling and drifting. The reef runners are being used for trolling while Erie Dearies are being used for drifting. The walleye are in about ten feet of water, so you do not have to go to deep to catch them in this area. Another area to fish for walleye is off of Celeron Island. This would be the area around Elizabeth Park Marina. The best time to fish is in the morning hours in shallow waters. As soon as the boat traffic begins, the walleye will move out deeper and stay close to the bottom. In this area, anglers are using a pencil plug and a hand line while trolling the bottom. They are having incredible fishing and bringing in some nice sized walleye. Some other areas are Grosse Ile on the Ontario side, but then you will need a Canada fishing license. They are finding walleye by the Windsor Bridge. The other are on the Canada side is the Hiram Walker whiskey plant area. They are finding some nice sized walleye in this area. Then you can try the area by the Ambassador Bridge both above and below it. These seem to be the best places to catch the walleye. It is a matter of timing at some places, but for the most part, you are going to catch a walleye or two.

I was wondering if there are any spots along the Detroit side of the river to fish for walleye using waders.
