Two places that are you want to watch for the future are the
Narraguinnep and Puett Reservoirs. The stocking of these reservoirs
means that the walleye are going to become abundant and will grow to a
good size. The plan is to stock these reservoirs for the next five
years. This will be a good area for the Cortez area. Although this is a
new planting, it has taken off quite well and anglers are seeing some
hope for fishing on the reservoirs.
Sanchez Reservoir is another popular place to fish for walleye. This
reservoir has some underwater structures that make it ideal for
walleyes. Many anglers have revealed that using a crankbait works the
best. Although you are not going to fish from shore, the boaters will
find that the ten to twenty feet water levels are holding the walleyes.
North Sterling Reservoir is just another reservoir where the walleye
are biting. The thing most anglers do not realize is that you can sit
right in the middle of the reservoir and catch a walleye. This is a
place where you can actively fish from spring until early winter. The
walleye are biting at a jig and a minnow. Many anglers are using a
Rappa or even a crankbait.
It is true that Colorado is not just for hiking in the mountains. The
walleye fishing is superb. The many lakes and reservoirs are great to
fish for walleye and other species. It does not take much to bring in a
walleye for the table every night. These are just a few of the places
to fish. You will learn that there are so many more places in Colorado
to fish for walleye. All you need is a little time.
