I’ve read that Walleyes can be found in timber – can you pinpoint where in the timber and what types of timber I can find them in on the river?

I in Chicago. I would love to fish a lake within a 6-8 hr drive for walleye. I have my own boat and would like to get out on the water. Most lakes north such as chippewa flowage has already turned over with many resorts shutting down this week end. West maybe? Am I a dollar short and a day late? Can u recommend a location? Greg
